Who is responsible for providing what equipment?
See below in yellow who is responsible for which items.
- Player - that is you!
- Team - Ask your coach for more information. If it is a team expense, the cost will not fall only on the coach to cover. Coaches can divide the cost among the players or find a team sponsor to help with items.

Fielding Mask Player | A: Required for all positions except outfield. B - C - D - E: REQUIRED to be worn whenever playing the in the field. Umpire will stop play until all fielders have a fielding mask on correctly or player(s) are removed from the field. |
Batting Helmet Player/Team | Batting helmets are REQUIRED must have BOTH the face guard AND a chin strap. We strongly encourage players to have their own helmets for sanitary reasons but some teams may provide. |
Balls Team/DGIL | We encourage each player to purchase one so they have a ball to practice with at home. Ball Sizes: > A & B: Optic 12" Yellow Softball > C: 11" Yellow Softball (not softie) > D & E: 11" Yellow Softie Softball A - B - C: Team responsibility. Only game balls only are provided by DGIL. D - E: DGIL provides. |
Catcher's Equipment Team/DGIL | A - B - C: DGIL has catcher's gear that a team can check out for the season by the coach. D: Provided by DGIL. Kept in totes in the shed and can be retrieved before games. Please return to the shed if you are the last D team in the dugout that night. Sanitizer wipes included in tote E: Does not use catcher's gear. All equipment is required to be worn CORRECTLY during games. |
Bat Player/Team D & E ONLY - DGIL | A - B - C: Players and teams are responsible for providing. D - E: A couple of bats will be provided to each coach by DGIL for the season. > LEGAL BATS: All bats must meet the 2004 ASA Bat Performance Standard, bear the 2004 certification mark, and not be listed on the ASA non-approved bat list. Bats bearing the new USA Softball Certified mark are legal. > ILLEGAL BATS: Bats with the 2000 certification mark. Click here for more detailed information on legal vs illegal bats. |
T-Stand DGIL | A - B - C: Does not use. D: Used during games after 4 pitches. E: T-ball so t-stand is required to be used by all players! |
Scorebook Team | A - B - C: Each team is responsible for keeping track in a score book. If a team is caught batting out of order, it is an automatic out. D - E: No current rule. D league just needs to track 5 runs each inning. |
Cleats Player | Cleats are optional. No metal spikes in B, C, D or E Leagues |
Uniforms Player/Team E ONLY - DGIL | A - B - C - D > Uniforms are determined by the coach/team and each team/player are responsible for any costs. > DGIL does not have any requirements (t-shirts are fine especially for D). > Sponsor logos are welcome. > A - B - C: Numbers are requested but names are not required. E > A shirt will be provided to you at the first game that can be used as a jersey. Each team is a different color. |
